Thanksgiving Blessings

I know I took more pictures than this on Thanksgiving. But, I couldn't seem to find them on my camera. Finally, today, I figured out where they were…on my phone! Being the Techie Junkie that I am, I'm not too technically smart. Once I figure out how to get them off my camera and into iPhoto, I'll be able to create more pages using sbcStudio, Creative Memories Mac version of the award-winning software StoryBook Creator Plus.

I hope each of you had a great Thanksgiving and got to spend time with your Blessings.

Teamwork
(Author Unknown)

A man was lost while driving through the countryside. As he tried to reach for the map, he accidentally drove off the road into a ditch. Though he wasn't injured, his car was stuck deep in the mud. So the man walked to a nearby farm to ask for help.

"Warwick can get you out of that ditch," said the farmer, pointing to an old mule standing in a field. The man looked at the decrepit old mule and looked at the farmer who just stood there repeating, "Yep, old Warwick can do the job." The man figured he had nothing to lose. The two men and the mule made their way back to the ditch. The farmer hitched the mule to the car. With a snap of the reins, he shouted, "Pull, Fred! Pull, Jack! Pull, Ted! Pull, Warwick!"

And the mule pulled that car right out of the ditch.

The man was amazed. He thanked the farmer, patted the mule, and asked, "Why did you call out all of those names before you called Warwick?"

The farmer grinned and said, "Old Warwick is just about blind. As long as he believes he's part of a team, he doesn't mind pulling."

The Trouble Tree
(Author Unknown)

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet his family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching tips of the branches with both hands.

When opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His tanned face was wreathed in smiles and he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss. Afterward he walked me to the car. We passed the tree and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

"Oh, that's my trouble tree," he replied. "I know I can't help having troubles on the job, but one thing's for sure, troubles don't belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again.

"Funny thing is," he smiled, "when I come out in the morning to pick 'em up, there ain't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before."

Imagine - Christmas Is Coming

Whether we're ready for it or not, Christmas is coming. There are only 63 days before Santa comes down that chimney with presents for all the good little boys and girls.

Do you have your shopping done? What do you give that special someone in your life? Whether you buy for everyone in your family or draw names, wouldn't it be nice to give a gift that tells that person exactly how feel and how much you love him/her?Imagine giving a gift that you made with one (or a few) of the hundreds (or thousands) of photos you've taken.

Personal gifts are priceless, but they don't have to be expensive. Creative Memories offers photo solutions for everyone - from mouse pads, coffee mugs or calendars to photo albums (paper, leather, traditional or digital), posters or photo panels to decorate the house, even greeting cards personalized just for the special people in your life.

I've been around for many Christmases. I've been a good girl and I've got my share of presents. But, the ones that I cherish the most are the ones that were given to me that wouldn't be meaningful to anyone else. Something given just for me; I think personal gifts are best. They don't necessarily cost the most, but they're worth more than money could buy.

As a Creative Memories Consultant and Photo Solutions Specialist, I can help you with a special gift for a special someone in your life. Visit my website www.mycmsite.com/rondi for inspiration and ideas. Please contact me if you'd like help making a one of a kind gift that will be treasured forever.

P.S. It's okay to buy yourself gifts too! Tis the season.

Camp Crop A Lot

I just went to the best scrapbooking retreat I've ever been at. I attended Camp Crop A Lot, hosted by my Facebook Friend (who I had never met) and her friend/down-line. Do these two girls know how to put on an event!

It all started with a common interest in a cocker spaniel named Taz (actually two cocker spaniels named Taz) and the wonders of a social media website called Facebook. Is it so strange that an old lady like me would travel from Minnesota to Ohio to scrapbook with 52 other scrappers that I had never met? Well, a friend and I did just that and we're still in shock at how AMAZING the venture turned out to be.

We left MN at 6:00 am on Thursday and enjoyed each others company along the most scenic fall drive through Wisconsin, into Illinois, Indiana, and then Ohio. Other than a stop for pizza in Chicago and about 7 toll booth stops, we drove straight here. At the last toll booth, we we're so happy to get a cheerful attendant, we couldn't help but start up a conversation with her. She asked us where we were going and when we told her she seemed really interested and said she used to scrapbook. Then she asked us what was new and we told her - DIGITAL. That really got her interested but she didn't seem to grasp it, so we invited her to stop by the retreat so we could show it to her.

Have you followed that so far? We were going somewhere we've never been, to scrapbook with people we've never met, and we invited someone else we didn't know to join us! YIKES. No wonder some of the campers were worried that we might be stalkers.

Well, if it had turned out bad, you wouldn't be hearing about it. We'd go home and tell everyone we had a great time, but secretly we'd be really upset that we spent the time and money doing something so strange.

But, that's not what happened. EVERYONE and EVERYTHING was perfect. The people we're so AWESOME, the accommodations GREAT, we accomplished so much, and even made the cut and got invited back!

In the picture are me and my friend from MN, the two CM consultants that hosted the crop, and our new toll booth friend. Simply amazing that this all started with a picture of a cocker spaniel named Taz on a website.

We're packed and ready to head home tomorrow morning, but we're taking back with us much more than completed projects. We have developed friendships that I think will last us for the rest of our lives. And, thanks to Facebook and scrapbooking, we'll be able to stay in touch and share our passions with each other until we see each other again. How cool is that?

Photography Tips - From CM Australia

You don't need to be a professional photographer to capture picture-perfect moments. Life is like a camera: Simply focus on the important things. Then make your photographs the centrepiece of a meaningful album. Here are some helpful tips.

Composition: Keep your camera ready. Keep the camera close at hand to capture the big and little moments in life. Extra batteries are a must, too. And to make sure your images are free of imperfections, carry a photographic cleaning solution and lint-free paper to keep your lens clean.

Get close to your subject: Eliminate distractions and background noise by getting close to your subject. When photographing children, get down to the child's level.

Remember the basics: The rule of thirds works well as you mentally set up your shots. For example, for an outdoor scene place the horizon one-third from the top or one-third from the bottom of your viewfinder. When taking a photo of a single subject, such as a person, place them in the left one-third or right one-third of the viewfinder.

Be patient: Take a few moments to walk around and look at the subject and the background. Notice how different angles and light affect how things look through your viewfinder. Think about what you want to remember from the scene and capture it. Digital cameras also function using ISO standards. See your user manual for details.

Turn your camera: Instead of taking all of your photographs in a horizontal format, turn your camera to capture some shots in a vertical format. You can mount both horizontal and vertical photos in your Creative Memories album.

Hold your camera steady or use a tripod: Holding the camera steady and pushing the shutter button gently are necessary for sharp, clear pictures. A tripod will hold the camera motionless and allow you to concentrate on the composition of your photos.

Showcase 2010 - You took the picture; why not show your love by doing something with it?

I just returned from Creative Memories Showcase. I went with no real expectations other than to see the new product introductions, hear Nick Kelsh talk about taking better photographs, see Nancy O’Dell introduce her new partnership with CM, and to learn new scrapbooking tips and techniques.

Well. Creative Memories sure knows how to put on a show. After the 3-day event, I got all that I went for and then some. I came away with a renewed spirit as far as being an Independent Consultant goes. I started my business like so many others – to get a discount on the products I was already buying. I now think that I should “Jump on Board” and take advantage of the opportunity I have sitting in my lap and make a real business out of my hobby.

I’ve always heard that you should do what you love and, those of you that know me know I LOVE SCRAPBOOKING. Visit my website at www.mycmsite.com/rondi and click on My Page to read why I became a consultant. If I didn’t know better, I’d think CM borrowed it for some of their motivational speeches at this year’s Showcase.

Anyway, CM is redefining itself starting with a new logo that is simple, versatile and appropriate. And, CM is now offering two paths for us to preserve our memories: scrapbooking and simple, beautiful photo solutions.

I do love scrapbooking, but I’m reminded that not everyone loves scrapbooking. To jump on board with my business, I need to reach out to all people who take pictures, not just scrapbookers. If people take pictures, they do it to preserve a memory. CM is committed to helping people with photo solutions that can help celebrate precious memories. You took the picture; why not show your love by doing something with it?

My blog is one tool I plan to use to help grow my business. Watch for updates that will hopefully inspire you to do something with your photos. I’m here to help you and I’m doing it because I love to.

I also updated my calendar. Lots of fun events planned. Click on "My Calendar" on the Home Page of my CM website.

I signed up to be an independent consultant with CM to help my friend Sue win an incentive trip to Disney World. Congratulations Sue! She did it and has inspired me to get my business going (move past the "hobbyist" level) and really make a business out of this.

Watch for fun things on my blog. I don't intend to reinvent the wheel, but rather keep you updated with what's going on in my scrapbooking world and share links to sites I don't think you'll want to miss.

Stay tuned! And, please follow me!

Think About This - Good Deeds

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to eke out a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog. There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself. Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings. An elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.

"I want to repay you," said the nobleman. "You saved my son's life."

"No, I can't accept payment for what I did," the Scottish farmer replied, waving off the offer. At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.

"Is that your son?" the nobleman asked. "Yes," the farmer replied proudly.

"I'll make you a deal. Let me take him and give him a good education. If the lad is anything like his father, he'll grow to a man you can be proud of."

And that he did. In time, Farmer Fleming's son graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the nobleman's son, the very one who was rescued from the bog, was stricken with pneumonia. And what saved him? Penicillin.

Lord Randolph Churchill was the name of that nobleman, and his son - saved twice by the Flemings - Sir Winston Churchill.

Fabulous Friday

I’ve been thinking about how we wish so much of our life away. I wish it was Friday, I wish it was the week-end, I wish I had, I wish I could, I wish, I wish, I wish. I don’t know if it’s my age, but I’m not wishing for anything. I thank God every morning for giving me another day and I’m trying to make sure I spend my time wisely. We all have 24 hours every day to do what we want, how cool is that? Tomorrow, God-willing, we’ll have another 24. Life’s good.

Dear Family and Friends

I recently became a Creative Memories Independent Consultant. You know how passionate I am about scrapbooking, but you may not know why I love it so much.

When I was a senior in high school, both my parents died within six weeks of each other. My mother had cancer, my father had a heart attack. To make matters worse, I was pregnant! Okay, enough of that.

Back in the olden days, parents didn’t talk about a lot of things with their children. I didn’t know much about my parents other than they provided me with shelter, gave me food, taught me what was right, took care of me if I was sick, and loved me unconditionally. When they died they took almost all the family history with them. They had pictures, some in albums, most in boxes and no words to tell me who the people were or what their relationship meant to my parents. I had pictures of babies, but don’t know if it was me, my sister or someone else. One of the few things I learned after my parents died was that my grandmother introduced my father to my mother. I won’t bore you with those details, but how cool is that? I often wondered how many other stories about their lives I missed hearing about.

Anyway, I love scrapbooking because it provides a way for me to record my life and tell my story, my way (borrowed that from CM). I want to make sure that when I’m gone, anyone who cared about me will be able to look at my albums and remember me or find out something about the family they might not have known otherwise. I think my story is important and I want to share it. I want my kids, grandkids and possibly future generations to have an opportunity to know their heritage.

The other reason I scrapbook is purely selfish. I LOVE IT. I love reminiscing about the past days of my life. I love reliving my vacations. I love enjoying my “trips with the girls” long after the trips are over. I love recording the progress Dean has made on our 10 acres of land as he prepared the land and is now building our cabin on it. I love watching him show off the albums to others; it makes me proud of the work we’ve both done (him on the cabin, me on the scrapbooks).

Everyone has a story to tell and Creative Memories offers something for everyone. The products are top quality and the product offering is so much better than it was years ago. There literally is something for everyone. You can Sort It, Click It, Scrap It, Shape It, Tote It, Slide It. Give It. Get It? If you do, please consider choosing me as your CM Independent Consultant. Check out my website - it's free to look.
www.mycmsite.com/rondi

My new venture with Creative Memories fits well with my other passion which is travel. Awhile ago, I purchased an online booking engine. The name of my travel store is Breezy Beaches & More, and it can be found at
www.breezybeachestravel.com

I offer the same air, hotel, car, and cruises that you can find anywhere else. In addition, you can purchase tickets to sporting events, theater and concert tickets, family and comedy shows, flowers, and much more. Please visit my website - whether you’re shopping and comparing prices or just looking. Travel is a fun industry, but it can be overwhelming. Booking your trip on my website is easy and secure, but if you’re not comfortable doing it online, I can personally help you.

During these tough economic times it may be hard to justify taking a trip right now. But, life goes on and there are still many things to celebrate and ways to preserve the memories of it. I look forward to showing you solutions for celebrating your memories. Please consider me for your travel or scrapbooking needs.

It's Official - I'm a CM Consultant

Tonight I signed up to be a consultant with Creative Memories. I swore I would never do it, but recently my friend (now upline) Sue, was talking about how she'd really like to earn an incentive trip to Disney with her family. One of the qualifications was to recruit a couple consultants. Somehow, I couldn't get that out of my head. Check out my website at
www.mycmsite.com/rondi

I love to scrapbook. Recently I helped a friend set up her Mac with the CM software and I realized that I really do know quite a bit about CM and I enjoy sharing what I've learned with others - not just doing it for myself.

I am so looking forward to building a nice business with CM. Combine that with my YTB travel business and I'm all set to really enjoy sharing my passions and building some residual income for my retirement (which isn't that far off).

Whether it be for scrapbooking, travel, or just being your friend, I'm here for you and would love to help you anyway I can.

Hobbit Travel Closed Just days before Christmas, Hobbit Travel closed their doors temporarily as they look for financing. I posted the following comment on their Facebook Wall: "Yes, Hobbit will be missed. I am a travel agent with YTB and many times booked with Hobbit because the deals were better. Sadly, those deals weren't as good for Hobbit as they were for their customers. I will miss Hobbit and am very sorry to see any business shutdown. I feel especially bad for the employees whom I've enjoyed doing business with over the years. Out of work is bad, but seems worse at Christmas."

I have since learned that my neighbor had purchased a cruise for her family of six for a Christmas present. She paid for airfare, but Hobbit didn't purchase the tickets. I don't know the status of her reservations, but I know she is very unhappy and left to deal with it herself.

I will miss Hobbit as a client. As a competitor, I'm hoping that many of you will shop at my online travel store when looking for your next vacation.
