Digital Dinner

I am hosting digital dinners each month
at my house.

It's time to come and work on your digital projects, learn new techniques
and pick up a tip or two.

100 pesos (or $10) for you and your guest.

Traditional vs. Digital Scrapbooking

I just returned from a weekend scrapbooking retreat. Eighteen women scrapbooking what's important to them...their kids, grandkids, pets, vacations, or whatever. Traditional scrapbooking requires (yes, requires) a ton of stuff including, but not limited to, albums, papers, embellishments, and tools. Oh, the tools! Then there's the carts, bags and totes to carry it all in.

Well, there's another world of scrapbooking. It's a digital world. Everything you can do traditionally (for example, cutting and taping), you can also do digitally. Imagine going to a weekend crop where, besides your personal items (clothes and wine), you only needed to pack your computer? You could create pages, cards or complete albums, order online and either pick up or have the creation shipped right to your front door.

I recently have become addicted to digital scrapbooking. I still like the traditional, but have to say that with digital you will never run out of that perfect paper or embellisment, vellum quote or title. You just make your own. The sky's the limit.

I really struggled this weekend. My "creative juices" were not flowing. I was sure I had packed everything I would need, but found myself wishing I had brought something from my stash that was left at home. With digital, that would never happen.

I truly enjoy both traditional and digital scrapbooking, but find the digital to be so much easier (and much less to tote around). The results are equally rewarding and the end-product will serve whatever purpose you scrapbook for.

I think I am leaning towards becoming a digital diva. The cost is actually less, and for "perfectionists" like me, the quality is much better (once you've learned how to use the software).
